I just have to say I sooooo loved this book!!! Even though this is part of series, it can be read as a standalone. You have Tatum. She looks perfect, but on the inside its another story. She drinks and parties to cover her insecurities but there is one person that can see through it all, Noah. Sigh.... Noah, Noah, Noah... what’s not to love about him. He is perfect. He is smart and sexy and is getting ready to head to college to be doctor. Just like his father. So he thinks...

We start with Tatum in a relationship... and not in a good way. She is with a loser and can do so much better. Noah is home for the summer and has a friend with benefits sort of relationship with a coworker. Tatum's brother owns the bar they both work for and has hired Noah to do some side work for him at an apartment complex he owns. When Tatum gets in a little trouble, her brother forces her to work at the apartment complex with Noah. Because they work together at the bar, they know each other but the time they share together only brings them together. They both feel this pull towards each other but since Noah is in a relationship and will be going away for school she fights it.

“Something about him makes me nervous, and not in a good way. In a way that tells me I need to stay far, far away because the feeling I experienced just in that one moment with him, well it’s one that will only end in pain and devastation.”

Noah keeps feeling like he has to protect Tatum and watch out for her. He knows that there is pain behind her eyes and wants to comfort her

When they decide to take that step there are forces that will keep them apart. Will they be able to get past it all and find the love they both deserve or will they be forced to go their separate ways? The road to love is not an easy one and there are many trials and tribulations. Both on the outside have a perfect persona but once you get into the layers they are both so damaged and flawed. Can being together start to heal them both??

I cannot say how much I adore this book. There are parts that gave me straight out chills!! Chills!!! I’m not one to get emotionally attached to a book but this sooo did it for me. The author did an amazing job bring out the emotion in this book and I devoured it in one sitting! I didn’t want it to end! I felt the pain that Tatum was going through and the love that Noah so wanted to share. This is one of the MUST read books for me!

L.B. Simmons I love how you write! Each book in this series just keeps me hooked and falling further in awe of this woman's talent. This book had the right combination of raw emotion, love, angst and sexy steam.
Running in Place is the story of Tatum and Noah, two broken souls, just barely existing, running on empty and holding so much pain in their hearts. Their worlds collide and the ensuing story was an absolute page-turner.
"She intrigues me. Absolutely nothing about her makes sense.......Her eyes betray the sorrow that consumes her"
Tate has suffered some horrific experiences in her life and Noah sees straight through the brave facade that she show the world. While Noah is living a life that is not his own.
".....maybe I was hoping some miracle would present itself in which I would be able to live my life instead of my father's."
Noah has his own demons to fight and this is what makes their relationship so complex. It's not just one character saving another, they are both saving each other.
Tate is a damaged soul with the grief over her father and her anger towards her mother driving her forward.
" The anger overwhelms me. It festers inside my soul. inside my mind, its darkness spreading throughout my entire being."
Sadie, Tate's best friend, sees what this is doing to her and tries to help her... "You've got to find another outlet for this anger, or just let it go." Sadie sees that Tate is on a road to self destruction but feels somewhat helpless. That's where Noah steps in.
Tate is drawn to Noah just as much as he is drawn to her. He "sees" her and she "sees" him. for the first time they feel as if they can really just be themselves

....and they fall hard for each other....

Tate and Noah open up to each other, each finding the absolute gift in that gesture, but they soon find that if the hurts of the past are not dealt with it can only lead to more heartache. Will their love be enough to overcome the obstacles in their way and will they ever be able to put the past to rest?
Well to find out you will have to read this book.

From the first two pages this book had me hook, line and sinker and with each page thereafter I was totally invested in following Tate and Noah's story and hoping and praying that they find solace in each other. I loved that we had cameo appearance by Alex, Blake and the girls, and Harlow and Trace, as well as meeting new characters like Sadie. I thought that all the side characters played an important role and fitted in beautifully with the storyline.
This book is beautifully written with heart-wrenching emotion and the chemistry between these characters is palpable. I felt every heartache, every touch, every laugh. The dialogue between Tate and Noah was great, their snarkiness with each other, the way they were comfortable with each other enough to say what they felt, and the way they connected made this a book that you can loose yourself in.
L.B. you are a wonderful writer and I can't wait to read each and every book you write (particularly Harlow and Trace's story, hint, hint)
This book was a very enjoyable book to me! I will admit that it started off slow, so slow that I had stopped reading it and came back to finish it months later. However I'm happy I did and I think you will enjoy this book too. Noah and Tatum 's story is such a good one so good that it was better than book 1 to me. While I will admit that Tatum made me mad because of how stupid she was being when it came to her boyfriend Cash and his lies, but she ended up redeeming herself. I love that Noah and Tatum had a friendship that was able to allow for both of them to see past the fakeness in their eyes and smiles. I love how this book allowed for us to be a fly on the wall in this friendship, I loved how the author allowed for Noah and Tatum to be there for the other when they needed it most. This book was really wonderfully written and I so fell deeper in love with Harlow in this book! She was such an amazing character and I can't wait to read her story because she deserves her own book! So in my overall opinion I say get this book because it was truly worth the money and the time and I believe that you will love this book also.
