Among the Impostors Shadow Children Margaret Peterson Haddix 9780689839085 Books

I read the first book in this series and really liked it so I had to get this one and was most definitely not disappointed!! I really like Margaret Peterson Haddix, I've read Under Their Skin, Palace of Mirrors, Double Identity, Among The Hidden, and now this by her and I liked all of them, even though Under Their Skin was a bit too young for me, this isn't.

I'm a 13 year old girl and I liked this book so if you're anywhere near that age boy or girl then you will probably like this too. It's about 12 year old Luke who is a third child in a society where only 2 or less children are allowed in a family. You HAVE to read the first one before this, it is NOT one of those series where the order doesn't matter. Trust me, it is vital you read them in order so you understand what's happening.

I can hardly wait to get the next in this series, and for such great books they are really cheap. If you have read Among The Hidden and the other books in this series and are looking for something to read you might like Wake Up Missing by Kate Messner, the Red Rock Mysteries by Jerry B. Jenkins and Chris Fabry, or Sylo.

Well I think that's all you need to know, so go read this book! I hope this helped you in any way :)

I liked Among the Hidden much better. This book was confusing until the very end.
I was introduced to this series through a Middle school reading project. I am over 40 years old however I thought I should read it to communicate with the kids even though I don't teach literature. After reading the extremely engaging first book in the series (Among the Hidden), I did not hesitate to get this one. It did not disappoint.

I have a feeling the author, Margaret Peterson Haddix, is going to get a lot of money from me. ) On to the next one!

It is rare when public school children are exposed to complex topics such as the dangers of big government, environmental regulations, tyranny, food police, population controls, and Big government solutions turning into huge problems. Discussion points also include property rights, strong worth work ethics, and government spying on its own population.
I highly recommend that parents read along with their children so they might both benefit from these books.
Ordered this and the other Shadow Children books for daughter in 5th grade. The books are well written and appropriate for her age. They're darker and more challenging reading than Percy Jackson (which she loved), probably a good step up if the reader doesn't require a lot of action sequences to maintain involvement.
I attended a book fair with my son and we picked up the first book in this series "Among the Hidden". For some reason, I started reading it at the fair (while he was off with his teachers) and I was hooked! I've read the full series now and now I go through my son's "chapter books" (he's in 7th grade) and raid his literature. This book helps you see everything through the eyes of a child, but it has tremendous sociopolitical analysis. And it's just fun to read. Good science fiction.
This is one of the best I have read. But before you pick up this book I highly suggest you purchase the first book in the series Among the Hidden. This is a great story and is the best book in the series so far. But the best part is all the cliff hangers. Couldn't wait to come back and read what happens next. But the killers are at the end of the chapter the suspense is crazy. Hope you enjoy your copy of the book! )
In the book that I had just finished, it talked a lot about who you can trust, because for all you know, they could be IMPOSTORS.

I hated the words that Jason used sometimes. "Exnay" or "Fonrol", it just made me mad for the people who truly were exnays or fonrols. I have read the first book of the serious too and I absolutely love it. We read "Among the Hidden" in class a couple of months ago and I completely loved this book, words can't describe how much I love it. So, when I got home from school, my mom and I brought up our iPad and we downloaded "" on there and then downloaded the book, "Among the Impostors" and I read the book with in three to four weeks, at night before I go to bed, is when I read, but finally finished the book a few minutes ago and it was probably one of the best books, I've ever read and I just completely loved it. I keep repeating that I loved the book so much, using the words absolutely and completely because I just can't find the exact word, that I am looking for and I am trying to find the perfect word to use in my book review.

I really liked the book because, it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. It used good vocabulary, punctuation and grammar. The book used lots and I mean lots of suspense. And suspense to me is what really makes the book interesting and awesome. Me, personally, I like feeling suspense and feeling like I am going through the same things Luke was and having to make the same decisions and be as confused as he was. And that is why I really loved books like that.

I plan to read the next book and the book after that and the book after that because I feel that they are interesting and are my kind of books. I feel very happy and suspenseful when I read these types of books and the series of "Haddix", it is sort of scary as well. Scary things in books just made me hyper and extremely happy. When I read these certain books I get very emotional at times, if nessaceary. At the scary or suspensful moments of the book, I feel scared for the people in the book and mad or upset at the situations that they are facing and having to go through. I am not a big fan of happily ever after books because I don't want to feel happy when I'm reading, surprisingly, but I want to feel scared or suspensful when I'm reading. I feel the same with my writing. I can't come up with anything to write about, exspept scary or senspenful stories to write about. I know that these books are fictional and I am a big fan of fictional books and I'm happy to read/write about fictional stories and not non-fiction stories because I don't want to learn about true things, like facts. I want to learn about the feelings, thoughts and emotions that the characters are going through or feeling. I don't want to learn about how the government was formed or how certain laws were created, I want to learn about some interesting characteristics etc.

I would recommend this book to people who like suspensful and Intense types of books. Fictional books.
I loved this book with all the action and wonderful details!
I can't wait to buy the next book in the series!
All those books have very good prices ranging from $7-$8.
I love this author!
The characters are very well developed!
Lots of risks and rewards!
I would recommend for ages 7+!
