Good story line, good read. Mystical, with all sorts of good and evil, magical powers, etc. I only gave it 4 stars because I had not yet read Knight Awakened; and you really need to read the books in order to enjoy them. I had to go back and buy the first book, which I really enjoyed; then I reread this book. It made a lot more sense after having read the first book. If you want a stand alone book, this is not for you. If you are looking for an interesting mystical/romantic series with dragons, hellhounds and other mysticism with some unusual characters and a decent plot, then books 1 and 2 are for you....I know I'll buy the next book, because I really did enjoy both books - I just wish I had read Knight Awakened before I read Knight Avenged.

Way too much inner dialogue. Tons of wasted pages going over the should I and shouldn't I to the point that it bored me.. left hanging with too much unfinished business.
Fast paced, action packed, great world building, now the magic is fully awakened.

What a great second book in this series. The only reason I kept to four stars was that it was a little predictable to me. Loved the characters and how they developed throughout the book. If you liked the first book you will love this one.

Highly recommended to anyone who loves fantasy and magic in well written, well structures, fast paced reading.
This was a great follow up to Knight Awakened and I loved the characters’ personalities. Some of the main characters’ internal angst was a bit repetitive, but overall a good read. Can’t wait to read the next in the series to see what happens with Cristobal and Nairobi
After reading the first book, I was excited to read this one. It has taken me what seems forever to read it through (which is really off since I read constantly). The first half is just boring, filled with "thoughts" from the mind of the main characters, over and over again. To me this was just filler. Finally, when you reach the middle of the book, things start happening and the story comes to life.
There are some grammatical errors but not a lot like some others I have read. I am really sorry to judge this so low, as the previous book was so good. Better luck next book!
I like this book. However, it was a little bit of a tough read for me. I still didn't like the modern phraseology and word choice and the pacing was very slow. Not a whole lot happened in the story to tell you the truth. There were some things I really did like and there were some things I didn't like. It seemed like it was very slow for the time that passed and because of this the romance was rushed. I did enjoy Cosmina; she's a strong heroine. I love Henrik, I liked him in the first book as well. While I absolutely adore the first book, this one was just okay for me. It didn't seem to advance the overall arc very much. I was disappointed that we did not see Afina at all. Plus the fact that the dragons can go out in daylight contradicts the Dragonfury series. Well I understand it's very far in the future compared to this century, I don't like that kind of a difference when the same creature. I still like the series overall and I do look forward to the next book to see where it's going.

I love how Coreene Callahan masterfully creates her worlds, her dragonshifters, her hot men, her kick-butt women, her dangerous enemies plus adventure and suspense around every corner. What more could women ask for? Oh wait, I know. I read the first circle of seven book four yrs ago (maybe three) & this one two years ago. That's how long I've been waiting for book 3. Two years! Come on Mrs Callahan, it seems like you've just stopped writing! I had to read these first two again! All-in-all, I love the dragon fury series and I love these two circle books by Coreene Callahan! Sadly, I may not make to the finished books of these two series.
I’m a long-time fan of Coreene Callahan’s dragon novels, but just recently I read Knight Awakened and Knight Avenged. They are wonderful. A creative combination of a medieval world-view and paranormal elements. (And there are still dragons!)

The plot is excellent with never a dull moment for nothing less than gargantuan stakes. But the heart of any romance novel, despite the setting, is the relationship between the two lovers. Here Coreene has outdone herself. Each relationship is between a supreme warrior with a wounded heart and a strong, gentle woman. Sigh. I think I need to go read them again…..
