A Heroine in Distress....
In the span of one afternoon, Maggie Sampson lost everything—her job, her fiancé and her inheritance. The thing she’ll miss most though is her mind. What else could explain her vision of the handsome and enigmatic stranger who retrieved her engagement ring when she hurled the rock into the Atlantic Ocean? Normal people just don’t do things like that. Sometimes fantasy is better than reality.
A Hero Who Needs Saving....
To the rest of the world, Neil Phillips is a decorated war hero, a Navy SEAL who has what it takes to get the job done. In private he is a walking raw wound with two boys, a broken marriage and a nasty case of PTSD. Despite his personal struggles he helped Maggie when she needed it most. Now, Maggie is on a mission and she’s not going anywhere until she returns the favor—with interest.
Who Needs A Hero?
A warrior with a wounded heart, a woman with nothing to lose—there are no victims here, only courageous souls, both in need of rescue.
"Who Needs A Hero is a wonderful story of two people who made their share of mistakes during their lifetime but seem to complete each other."

This book was great. I was looking for a great romance and came across this book.First you have sad Maggie who is freaking hysterical and I would love to have her as my friend. You will see in the book that she has been tested in life, from her parents death, to a cheating fiance. But while wallowing in her self pity she meets Neil. Oh My! Who doesnt want to meet a Neil. Sexy SEAL, hero. Nuff said, well not really.
Then we meet Neils ex wife (psyco-ho-bag). But Maggie is there and we all fall in love with Neil's kids who Maggie takes on the role of being nanny.

Who Needs A Hero? Laundry Hag series edition by Jennifer L Hart Romance eBooks Reviews
Neil, a Navy SEAL suffering from both PTSD and an imminent divorce from his ridiculously unfaithful wife, runs into Maggie, a young woman who has recently lost her inheritance, her fiance and her job in one fell swoop, while they are both at their lowest point. They meet again shortly thereafter when Neil learns Maggie has been hired as the nanny to his two very young sons.
I understand this book is a prequel to the author's Laundry Hag series but one does not have to have knowledge of that series to enjoy this book.
Although I found Amber, the ex-wife, and the Jackass, the ex-fiance, to both be over-the-top caricatures of really bad exes, I enjoyed all of the other characters. Maggie and Neil were fun together and Leo and his family were also likeable. The book moved along at a good pace and kept my interest and even had some laugh out loud moments.
Recommend when you're looking for a light, romantic comedy.
Adult language and sexual content.
If this had been the first book by this author I read, it would be the last. Since I have read other books in this series and another one and I like to read all of the books in a series in order I read this one. I read this genre because I like cozy mysteries. There was way too many sex scenes that went on for far too many pages. It was not only boring but really added nothing to the story.
In Who Needs A Hero we see how Maggie (The Laundry Hag) and Neil got together. This is more of a traditional romance than the Laundry Hag series but it does give some good background to their relationship.
I started reading Ms. Hart for the Laundry Hag series. I don't really fit the target audience of this book as I am older and male. I did however still enjoy the book and liked the insight it gave me into the characters that I enjoy in the series that followed this book.
I enjoy Ms. Hart's writing style and appreciate her sense of humor. She seems to care about the characters that see creates. A trait that is lacking in a lot of authors today. I found it a good read and would recommend that anyone who has read the Laundry Hag series will enjoy this the prequel.
This is the story of Maggie and Neil. I had earlier bought the Maggie Mystery (they are probably not called that) books on sale and from the premise they seemed rather interesting. Then I noticed this book, it tells the story of how Maggie met her husband Neil and became a mystery solver while she cleans people's houses. I really liked this book, I loved Maggie and Neil and Neil's two sons. I found the book funny, clever and sweet in places and really liked the way the author had the ability to make me want to swat some of the characters. That only happens when it's excellent writing as far as I'm concerned. In writing this review I opened my kindle to refresh my memory of the book and only realized that I had been reading for quite some time when my husband came in and wondered what all those stars on the computer screen were about. So, I'm closing this review out and going back to rereading Who Needs A Hero? It's that good.
I never thought I'd download the App for my Droid and purchase a book, but "Who Needs A Hero" is one book worth reading on any eBook reader. Jennifer Hart has given us a funny, delightful, can't put down story with a quick witted and compassionate heroine by the name of Maggie Sampson whose engagement ring is fished out of the Atlantic ocean by emotionally scarred Navy SEAL Neil Phillips.
Maggie, bilked out of her and her brother's inheritance by her fiancé/boss because of her naïve trust in the man, is hired on the spot as a nanny by Amber Phillips, a woman with two young boys and an estranged husband she has nothing good to say about. Maggie soon learns, however, that her employer would rather spend time away from home dressed to seduce than with her children.
Neil Phillips, whose job takes him away for extended periods of time, wants nothing more than a stable home for Kenny and Josh, and he's thankful they have Maggie to care and provide that for them. Neil also is diagnosed with PTSD. When Maggie finds herself front and center for two of his flashback episodes, she does what she feels she needs to comfort him, even though it might cost her more than she believes.
I did plenty of laughing out loud as I read, enjoying Maggie and Neil's conversations as they tiptoed their way around their attraction to each other, her growing friendship with gay neighbor Leo, and especially the way she confronts Neil's rigid backed nose in the air mother. I also loved the way Ms. Hart wrapped her characters in heartrending emotion as Neil and Maggie worked their way through their emotional flaws and toward falling in love with each other.
Written in first person, mostly with Maggie's point of view, I thoroughly enjoyed reading through Neil's point of view as well and getting inside his head from time to time.
This is a must read for anyone who loves good romance. Who Needs A Hero is darn good romance!
